  • Why Belly Dance?

Picture
Gabriela  (Our Angel)
This  young lady of 47 joined us in 2009.   She had continuously fought cancer for seventeen years.  During her year with us, she was extremely determined to succeed and learn to belly dance.   She  enthusiastically went looking for clothing she could make into costumes.  Sewed,  and purchased some of the most beautiful outfits.   Within a couple of months she began performing with us at nursing homes  etc.

Gabriela  (Margaret) always had the most beautiful smile for everyone watching. No-one  would have ever guessed she was dealing with a life threatening  illness.  2009-2010 she showed us how to be determined and how to succeed, how  to push to the limits and then give that extra ounce of  energy.

By  June 2010 she had become weak and had taken ill, she was on oxygen and could not  walk far.  On Saturday June  26th our group performed at Panama City Mall for the Women’s Health  Expo.  Gabriela came in full  costume, in her wheel chair on oxygen.   When we posed to take group photos, she removed the oxygen and walked to  center stage to pose with  us.

Three  days later God called Gabriela home.   We were devastated, but knew she will forever be in our hearts and is our  Angel watching over us every time we perform.

This  belly dancer showed so much courage, spirit, and created a strong bond with us  all in the few months she spent with us.   She definitely earned her wings in this lifetime, and we know that while  she is now at peace I’m sure she is helping other spirits kick up their heels  and showing them how to do the
ron - de - jon
move.
We think of Gabriela at all our dancer show, and every few months Bashira performs a solo to Bett Midler's song "The Wind Beneath My Wings"  and dedicates it to Margaret, as she is our Angel guiding us along our dancing path.
